About Nicholas
I have been teaching since 1997, although I have taught English as a foreign language as well as history.
I have lost count of the number of students I have taught! I have taught six students privately, as a tutor and they have all benefited, or said they benefited! For example, one girl got a B at A level, when she was expecting a C. One girl got a C when she was expecting to fail entirely. I can't say this was all down to me, but I provided additional support, rehearsal of the knowledge needed and guidance on essay writing.

I tend to teach by asking the students what they think and trying to go from what they know. I think it is important to try to elicit as much as possible from the student, rather than just tell them the answer. I tend to use film and card sorting activities with my students to make the lesson more memorable and/or more student-focused. I give the student a quiz and then get them to give me one and to prepare it for homework.
