About Tessa
With a Bachelor's in Music and six years of piano teaching experience, I bring both formal training and practical knowledge into every lesson. I’ve worked with students from early childhood to adults, always aiming to inspire growth and build musical independence. My teaching approach balances structured progression with creative freedom. I tailor my methods to each learner’s goals—whether casual playing or serious study—ensuring that learning remains challenging but enjoyable. I believe music should be an outlet for expression, not just repetition of notes. Outside of teaching, I have experience in performance and accompaniment across multiple genres, including classical, jazz, and modern. This background allows me to offer a well-rounded musical perspective, helping students connect with the piano in ways that feel personal and rewarding.

In beginner lessons, we cover the essentials: posture, finger technique, rhythm awareness, and note reading. Students engage with familiar melodies and basic exercises to build confidence and coordination. This phase lays the groundwork for fluency in reading music and understanding keyboard geography.
As skills develop, lessons evolve to include scale work, chord structure, and expressive phrasing. Intermediate students explore classical pieces, pop arrangements, and introductory theory. Emphasis is placed on articulation, dynamics, and developing a natural flow in performance, both solo and with accompaniment.
For advanced learners, sessions focus on refining technique, interpretive depth, and repertoire expansion. We work on challenging pieces, improvisation, and stylistic variation. Each lesson is adapted to support the student’s interests, whether preparing for exams, competitions, or personal musical mastery.
