About Maia
I’m a dedicated piano tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, specializing in piano. With over 14 years of teaching experience, I’ve helped both school-aged students and adults build skill, confidence, and a genuine love for music. My training is rooted in strong academic foundations, but my teaching goes beyond the classroom. I blend classical structure with the creativity of jazz and the familiarity of pop to create well-rounded, engaging lessons. Whether you're preparing for exams, playing for fun, or picking up piano as an adult learner, I tailor lessons to your pace and interests. Technique and theory are always part of the journey—but so is joy. I focus on setting clear goals, encouraging consistent practice, and celebrating small wins along the way. My piano teaching approach is fun, flexible, and focused on helping each student enjoy the process of learning. Whether you're a child just starting out or an adult returning to the keys, I create lessons that fit your goals and pace. I place strong emphasis on building solid technique and healthy hand positioning from the beginning.
We work on developing consistent practice habits through small, achievable goals. To keep things exciting, I mix in music games, creative exercises, and backing tracks that make playing feel like performing. I use a blend of classical and popular pieces to keep motivation high and lessons varied.
For those who use music as a form of expression or emotional release, I offer a supportive space to explore sound, emotion, and creativity. And for students who love jazz or want to experiment with improvisation, I guide you through groove, swing, and freedom in playing.
