About Mike
My name is Mike, and I am a Mathematics MSci (Master’s) graduate from the University of Birmingham, now working full-time as a data scientist. I combine my academic background with practical problem-solving skills to bring maths to life for my students.
I first got excited about maths during my sixth form days, where my maths teacher—through his encouragement, passion, and love for the subject—inspired me to pursue mathematics at university. For this reason, I truly understand the difference a good teacher can make in a student’s life, and I aim to bring that same level of support and inspiration to every lesson.
With 2 years of private tutoring experience, I have guided GCSE, A level, Malta O level, and University students to achieve their goals and develop confidence in mathematics. I take pride in adapting my teaching to suit each student, ensuring lessons are engaging, supportive, and tailored to individual needs.
I believe that professionalism, patience, and clear communication are the foundations of effective teaching. My mission is not only to help students succeed in exams, but also to foster an appreciation for mathematics that lasts well beyond the classroom.

My tutoring is centred on tailoring lessons to each student’s needs. I focus on breaking down complex ideas into clear, manageable steps, using real-world examples and problem-solving strategies to build confidence. I avoid a one-size-fits-all approach, instead adapting to the student’s pace and learning style.
A typical lesson lasts one hour, though I remain flexible depending on the topic and the student’s requirements. Lessons are structured but interactive, with time dedicated to practice questions, exam techniques, and developing problem-solving skills.
I hold an MSci in Mathematics (Master’s) from the University of Birmingham and work full-time as a data scientist. Alongside this, I bring 2 years of private tutoring experience, successfully supporting students across GCSE, A level, Malta O level, and University-level mathematics.
My lessons are ideal for students aged 14+ who want to strengthen their maths skills, boost exam grades, or gain a deeper understanding of the subject.
