About Emir

I currently attend Martha Ellen Stilwell School of The Arts as a double bass player for orchestra. I also play piano and have played piano for over 7 years with various other instruments. My current teacher Mr. Perkins is a professional violinist and fiddler of over 28 years. He has had the opportunity to tour nationally with the band Jacks and Heroes and perform at the Great American Irish Festival in Utica, NY, with his former band, Inisheer. One of his most memorable moments was performing for President George W. Bush and U.S. Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas while in office. My other current teacher Dr. Bell currently is an associate professor of music at Clayton State University in Morrow, Georgia. He is also the conductor of the Southern Crescent Symphony. He holds bachelor's and master's degrees from Florida State University and a doctorate from the University of Georgia. My previous teacher Dr. Bell, tutored by many professional musicians and even from professors at Juilliard. He attended The University of Georgia where he got his doctorate for music education and also attended Kennesaw State and is also a professional Double Bass player.

My Teaching Method and Techniques My teaching style is adaptive, student-centered, and outcome-oriented. I focus on clarity, relevance, and engagement. The core techniques I use include: Active Learning: I encourage questions, problem-solving, and hands-on practice to deepen understanding. Scaffolded Instruction: I break down complex topics into manageable parts and build gradually, ensuring foundational concepts are solid before advancing. Analogies and Real-World Applications: I relate abstract concepts to real-world scenarios to make them more tangible. Formative Feedback: I regularly assess understanding through mini-quizzes, discussions, or tasks to adjust instruction as needed. Flexible Pacing: I adapt the pace to fit the learner’s needs—accelerated for advanced learners, reinforced for struggling students. ️ A Typical Lesson Plan Each lesson follows a structured yet flexible format: Warm-Up / Recap (5–10 min) Quick review of previous concepts or a short quiz. Address lingering questions. Objective Setting (2–5 min) Clear statement of what the student will learn today. Link to overall course goals or upcoming assessments. Instruction & Explanation (15–25 min) Concept breakdown using slides, diagrams, or worked examples. Real-time questions to check engagement. Guided Practice (10–20 min) Problem-solving together or small projects/tasks. Encourage self-explanation and justification. Independent Practice / Homework Setup (5–10 min) Assign targeted exercises. Provide tips for tackling problems independently. Wrap-Up & Feedback (5 min) Recap key points. Collect student feedback and answer final questions. What Sets Me Apart as a Tutor Custom Learning Plans: I tailor lessons based on learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic), strengths, and goals. Clarity & Empathy: I break things down without oversimplifying, and I genuinely care about each student's learning journey. Cross-Disciplinary Insight: I connect ideas across different instruments (e.g., using Piano and connecting it with bass or learn to transpose horn instruments). Who the Lessons Are For I tutor a wide range of learners, including: High School Students Subjects: Music Theory and Music Composition Focus: Building fundamental music knowledge to become a better musician and apply them in real world scenarios.
