For around 18 years now, I am working in university teaching either as a teaching assistant or as assistant professor. I worked as Assistant professor for around 3 years at Suez Canal University, Egypt. I was responsible for a lot of courses such as multimedia database, data warehouses, python programming and machine learning. Besides, I worked as adjunct professor at different international universities such as Future Academy, Misr International University (MIU) and British university in Egypt (BUE). Moreover, I was the supervisor of more than 13 graduation projects in different universities and three different master researchers. In fall, 20I8, I worked as a main instructor for Java programming course in Electrical and Computer Engineering, Western University, Ontario, Canada.

During my courses, I have different objectives related to the learning process and the social relation ship with students. For the learning process, the main objective is to make the students understand the main concepts of the course topics as well as gain the required skills to apply these concept. Skills such as problem solving, critic thinking, organizing and presenting their ideas are used in a very large scale inside my class. For the social relationship with students, I believe that a good relationship with student is very important for the success of the course. Student will listen and obey instructors who they are believe in, respect and love. They must feel that I care a lot about them, I always monitor any change in the behavior or the mode of my students. In many cases, I asked for a private meeting with a student to ask about change in his/her behavior and interest and if necessary I gave many advises not only related the course, but for the their personal life too. I found that made an a great change in their interest in the course.

In order to achieve these objectives, I always be carful to prepare a very clear, simple, and straight forward lectures. Students should be able to have at least 50% understanding only when reading my slides before I explain the slides in the lectures. I am still using the board many times to explain in details some hard concepts using some figures. I am also using questions/answer strategy a lot inside my class to be sure that the majority of the students are understanding the main concepts. I am always encouraging my students to ask any questions even if they think it is really a basic question and I promised them that I will not let them feel any hesitation. Moreover, I am using my desktop recording to record important parts of the lectures especially when I try some programming examples or explaining some hard topics. These videos become available my my youtube channel immediately after the lectures. I am always trying be really close and reachable by my students not only using my scheduled office hours but using social media application such as Facebook and WhatsApp, I usually create a discussion forum for my class and try to read every single comment and request by my students. It happened that I changed my scheduled course plan during the course if I received many comments and requests from the students, I really flexible in that.

As my main interest during the course is to be sure that the students are learning and gaining necessary skills during the course, I am using a lot of assessments to evaluate their learning early at the course. Usually, after the first five weeks, I create a poll asking them to answer many questions about teaching style, understanding level of main topics, lecture organization, and many other things. The results of this poll may confirm or change my plans during the course. Moreover, I always try to reach my students during their break at the food courts having coffee or lunch with some of them and listen to their difficulties of the course in a friendly way. That also give me a better understanding of my students and their thinking. As well, I am always preparing my labs with my TAs to evaluate the skills of the students. Based on the results of these labs and the Midterm exam, i always classify my students and prepare a small private sessions to the students with low grades and having difficulties to understand main concepts. These sessions are mainly organized and controlled by me in a way to have a direct conversation with every single student to understand his/her difficulty and prepare a plan to overcome these difficulties. In general, i am always asking my students not to think a lot about exams and passing the course, but to learn, understand and apply their skills in an appropriate way.
