About Nicola
I've been teaching Creative writing for fifteen years, in the community, to primary school children and in university to both under and post graduates. I have taught over one thousand students, many of whom have gone on to be published or achieve MAs. I encourage my students - at whatever age - to join writing groups, to give and receive feedback and to carry on writing, even when they think they are no good. Sometimes the real gems can only be found among the rubbish. I read all my students' work very closely and can offer detailed advice on how to improve.

I am an Open University lecturer, published novelist and PhD student who specialises in Creative writing. I teach mainly prose-fiction: novels and short stories, plus creative non-fiction. I also teach writing poetry and for the stage, radio and screen. My lessons are informal and friendly and include excercises and a chance to write and be critiqued by a professional. This will set you on your way to being published
