My first approach when teaching a new student is to get to know the student and their needs. I will the work on creating a programme of lessons that the student agrees to. I am clear that I am an educator, not an entertainer. I emphasise rigour and the right balance of accuracy and fluency.
I've been teaching since 1994. Most of my experience is in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages but I am also a qualified History teacher. I am based in Scotland but have also taught in England, France, Lithuania and Japan.
