Let's just look what your needs in this subject are and we will figure out a plan for what fits your purpose best. I give lessons to anyone wanting to learn about History or needing additional lessons in this Subject.
My teaching ethos is that learning should be fun and engaging, and help to develop the whole student. I strive to ensure my lessons allow the students to progress at their own level, whilst ensuring appropriate levels of challenge and support are given. I am able to support students through exam material or to promote broader literacy and subject-based skills.
Dependant on the class size and ability of the individual, I range from outdoor learning to specifically targetting exam criteria and curriculum for excellence framework. In general, I take a learner-centered approach but can accommodate low tech information and high tech material.
With degrees in history, specializing in military and American history as well as Conflict Archaeology & Heritage, I have extensive experience in the academic world. Hello! My name is Blythe, I am an American PhD student studying at the University of Glasgow. I did my BA in the US in general history with a minor in education, which gives me both teaching experience and a broad background as I have done basic maths, science, psychology, sociology, and English lit.
As History is generally an essay based subject I approach it by breaking down areas into factors that are more easily discussed. This also then helps with the structuring of any essay as you are able to decide how to approach your paragraphs. I like to use straightforward methods in order to make History as fun and easy to understand as possible.
My teaching method is highly individualized. I start by assessing the skills the the student has already and comparing them to the skills the student needs to have in order to succeed. I then design lessons that will help them gain those skills. I do a lot of hands on work, such as primary sources and writing skills.
I will be able to give lessons to both pupils in Primary and Secondary education up to GCSE level. I believe practice makes perfect so once the basic skills are in mind we will start applying these methods into skills that will be useful for tests and exams.
First, I would listen what the person wants to achieve and plan the way towards that goal. Techniques and methods vary depending on the goal, but I love structural steps. Will start with the broad picture and time scale to understand the period and why things happened and go into specific details: maps, personalities, sources, social and political lives.
I have had a relatively long history with the subject of history; studying history from Standard Grade, Higher, Advance Higher, BA (Hons) and MA level. I am currently working towards a teaching career. My teaching methodology is simple: adaptable depending on the pupil. Having taught before, I understand that each individual has a different method of retaining knowledge.
Ideally, I would prefer to give lessons at the IB level down through GCSEs and the secondary school level. I always start with getting to know the student as understanding how the student learns the best is vital so that they're getting the most out of their time with me.
I have nearly five years of experience working with students, and I specialise in improving their skills in written communication; such as essays, coursework or long form exams. For those students who are new to this practice, I focus on establishing the basics: how to plan and structure an essay, and how to adapt your learning style to writing.
I have experience of teaching college and university students (including post graduate students). I take a student-centred approach to teaching and lessons are designed to suit the needs of individual students. Lessons can be structured around formal tuition; essay writing techniques and proof reading coursework prior to submission (this can range from essays to academic dissertations).

My first approach when teaching a new student is to get to know the student and their needs. I will the work on creating a programme of lessons that the student agrees to. I am clear that I am an educator, not an entertainer. I emphasise rigour and the right balance of accuracy and fluency.
I approach each topic depending on what kind of learner the student is. I would give lessons to HNC students and high school level students for National 4/5 and Highers. My lesson structure would have a key lesson overall, then an introduction, small break and a main body of lesson to round off the time.
I offer a creative, unique, and fun chance for students to learn the fantastic studies history and politics! I am happy to teach any level from primary all the way to HND/second year of university.
