Politics help! Is Britain a democracy?

have to find advantages and disadvantages for each of these points- Government is accountable to the people free and fair elections peaceful, orderly transition of power democratic legitimacy freedom of information protection of rights and liberties limited governmental power multiculturalism

Any help would be greatly appreciated, it feels like i've trawled through many politics sites, seems to be a lack of ones that explain the points clearly! Thanks

What you are describing is features of a democracy. Are you being asked to compare it to other forms of government?

Under a democracy, the right to vote is not limited by a person's wealth or race. The right to choose a leader is shared, and whoever runs the country is elected a majority of the population.

China is not a democracy, but has a single minded approach to getting things done. Its economic plans enable it to undertake major changes to the economy and nation, e.g. it has plans to build 70 airports by 2015. They get things done. Compare this to the difficulties in the UK building an airport in the Thames Estuary or an extra runway at Gatwick.
