Mitochondria in Muscle Cells

Mitochondria are the power house of the cells. They produce the energy that muscles cells need to function. Put simply, mitochondria are cell organelles linked to the membrane which work to generate enough chemical energy necessary to fuel the biochemical reactions of the cell. The chemical energy produced by the mitochondria is stored in a small molecule called adenosine triphosphate. Mitochondria release energy through aerobic respiration. As you may know energy (ATP) is a basic requirement for muscle function such as contraction and relaxation Mitochondria are the part of the cell that produces ATP which the cell can then use as energy to do work. Muscle cells require a lot of ATP to carry out contraction and this is why a large number of mitochondria are required to produce this ATP.

How do Mitochondria make energy?

Muscle cells contain actin and myosin filaments, which move in such a way that enables the muscle to contract. This process uses chemical energy, derived from ATP being broken down into ADP and phosphate. The cell needs lots of ATP. And mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) function to respire carbohydrates to produce ATP.

Respiration takes place in the mitochondria of cells in order to provide the cell with energy.  As muscle cells have a high demand for energy (due to their function), they have a large number of mitochondria in order to meet their energy needs.

Mitochondria are tiny structures found in cells (one is called a mitochondrion). Respiration, the chemical reaction that releases energy from glucose, happens in mitochondria. This provides energy for life process such as movement and growth.Tissues and organs that need a lot of energy have large numbers of mitochondria in their cells. For example, liver cells and muscle cells contain a lot of mitochondria.

Muscle cells are assiciated with a large number of mitochondria as they require more ATP (energy) to function than other cells. They need this because of their frequent contraction and relaxation, which requires more ATP than average cells.

And mitochondria (the powerhouse of the cell) function to respire carbohydrates to produce ATP. So in summary: cell needs lots of mitochondria to produce ATP to carry out its function. Cheers!

Hi,This is because mitochondria have the function of undergoing respiration to produce energy for the cells in your body. Since muscle cells use more energy, there are more mitochondria associated with them.

Mitochondria are the power houses of the cells, they produce energy, muscles cells need a high amount of energy for moment.. hence there are more mitochondria within the muscle cells.

First of all, Mitochondria are the power house of the cells. And, muscles need energy to contract as well as relax.Contraction and Relaxation in a muscle is done by a process called Excitation contraction coupling, which requires ATP. Since ATP is produced by Mitochondria, Muscles have a large number of mitochondria to meet the energy requirements

if the blood sugar level is lower than the normal range, the biochemical reaction in the mitochondrion can still occur, explain how?

fats and proteins can be broken down to produce the biological molecules needed by the mitochondria.

As mitochonderia is power house of the cell. I produce large amount of energy in  the form of ATP. So this form of energy is necassary for the contraction and relxation of mushcl.

As you know energy (ATP) is basic requirement for muscle function that is contraction and relaxation.for doing large work more muscles are active and ore energy is required.thats why more mitochondria is associated with muscle cells.thanks hope you understand. if any query ask freely.

Mitochondria release energy through aerobic respiration. Muscle cells need a lot of energy to contract (movement) so therefore they need more mitochondria to release more energy to do this.
