I will openly admit that throughout both school and college, i often found lesons very laborious and not very interesting, which is a very big probelm in education. The eduaction system revolves around 'success' in exams and while i understand it is imperative to try and obtain the best results possible, it is also very important to enjoy the subject you are studying. Law and PE play very large roles in society and being knowledgable around current affairs is very important therefore i will try to give a wider understanding to the explanations im giving. A big advantage of having a tutor in a similar age bracket as the student means that i know exactly the feelings of the students as i have been there and done it. GCSE's and A Levels are both very fresh in my memory and i understand to a very high extent how the 'system' works.
Within tutoring, i beleive my main ability is helping a student plan and score easy marks for exams. As i was sitting my exams (GCSE and A Level) i planned maticulously for every exam. This includes looking at past paper and looking at likely subjects to appear on the upcoming exam, looking at model answers and also reading through examiners reports. As i tutor i will work very hard to try help each individual student in their own indiviual way. It is very important to understand that students learn in many different ways therefore i would cater my teaching style around the needs of the student.
I have recently graduated with a law degree from the University of Leeds. As I have very relatively recently sat my A levels, achieving an A* in PE and an A in Law I am in a perfect position to help improve students going on to sit their exams, whether they are aiming for a C or an A*. I am a very organised, methodical and efficient learner as I believe it is important to understand how to score marks in an exam while having a wider understanding of the subject. Through my sessions of tutoring, I will cater the needs of the individual. It is vital as a tutor to understand that each student learns differently, whether it be visual aids or a simple bullet point list.
I have studied PE since GCSE and have achieved an A* in both my GCSE and A level. Away from the academic side of things I am involved in sport at a good level, currently as a football referee and coach. It is key when studying subjects such as PE to have a wider interest as in undoubtedly helps you within the course.
I first studied law at AS and A level and instantly fell in love with the subject. At AS level I achieved 194/200 UMS marks which illustrates a good ability to sit exams and how to score marks. I have now gone onto study Law at the University of Leeds where my knowledge has grown and I am very confident within the subject, whether it be criminal law or public law.
Joel is an excellent tutor. Highly recommend.
Joel was extremely helpful in preparing me for my assessment centre - I have now secured a role on a Times Top 50 Graduate scheme.
Joel helped me to create well structured, effective points which helped me to feel more confident and prepared during my interviews.
Joel helped me to understand what techniques were needed to apply for my job and go through the stages of the interview process with confidence.
Joel understands what it takes to be successful in a very difficult job market. He is passionate about giving people the best tools to have a happy career doing something they love. He is honest about his own downfalls academically but has an incredible insight in how to be successful in the most competitive job interviews and Assesment Centres.
