My teaching methodology is based on the fact that teaching is a two-way communication process, in which one and the foremost way of the road is the communications from teacher to students and the equally important way is the communications from students to teacher. With this fact, I have built-up my teaching methodology on following three lessons, which I learnt as an educator.
First, providing necessary knowledge – one of the core responsibility of a teacher lies providing students with the subject knowledge necessary for their future careers and studies. To convey this duty, I always spend time preparing my lectures before I deliver them. I think of all possible questions which students can ask me and I make myself ready to answer those. Since concepts in Chemical engineering are quite complex, I always develop well-organized lecture notes and adopt the ways through which I can develop students’ interest and curiosity in the topic under discussion. These ways could be the use of multi-media equipments to show videos on the topic, any famous websites, explanation on white board or preparing a paper-model to demonstrate working of an equipment. Through students’ excellent feedback, I learnt that such approaches have positive impacts on students and has motivated them towards further studies in the topic. To explain and solve challenging problems, I strive to use intuitive examples which are based on real-industrial problems. This helps students to feel what kind of problems they can expect to have when working in a professional environment. As a teacher, I always encourage students to understand the principles and fundamental reasoning of the concept rather than memorizing the outcomes. To reflect how well students have absorbed the concept, I also develop written assignments, homework and projects regularly. With the introduction of innovative techniques through research in the field of Chemical engineering, my lectures are updated to expose and help students to understand state-of-the-art technologies in the field of Chemical engineering. such an approach helps students in preparing themselves for their future career.

Second, developing passion for Mathematics – the frequency of interaction between the instructor and student is vital to make teaching a thought-provoking, stimulating and rewarding experience for both parties. I like to stimulate the students through my passion for the course I am teaching since I believe a teacher passion is important for students to develop a learning passion since they learn what they see. If as an instructor, I am not passionate about the topic under study, I cannot ignite the enthusiasm in the class. I always encourage and make sure each individual student is actively engaged in learning process. By raising arguments and assigning analytical approach questions to different groups in a class, I develop a sense of problem-solving in my students where they can solve problems through in-class group discussions, debates and sharing their learnings with their peers. To help students in assessing their learnings, I provide feedback to students on their assignments, class contributions and via after-class discussions with individuals. I always keep my office doors open for students no matter how much busy I am in my research and/or preparing my lectures. I also like to take students’ feedbacks, anonymous formal and informal evaluations by students and in-class suggestions to improve my teaching skills. In various occasions, students’ responses have been much helpful to improve my teaching skills.
Third, but not less important, as an educator I consider it my duty to educate students on how to improve their soft skills and personality along with technical knowledge. I always inspire students to develop their personality which is equally important to survive in today’s and future vibrant society. I always arrange extra training sessions in which I train students on different engineering and non-engineering tools which could help them to perform well in their professional career ahead. Such engineering tools include the trainings on different programming languages, the use of process simulators and design software. In non-engineering tools, I educate them how to behave in a job interview process and how to develop their inter-personal skills. I always encourage students to ask questions in class. This empowers them with self-confidence and make them to speak publicly with confidence. After all, the ultimate and unique goal of my success as a teacher lies in the success of my students, and to make this happen, I need them to make master in the subject so that they can deploy their knowledge skilfully in solving world’s big problems starting from a small class-room.
