About Nancy
With over 6 years of dedicated vocal coaching experience, I am passionate about helping singers develop a strong, healthy technique while unlocking their unique artistic voices. My students come from a broad range of backgrounds—teenagers preparing for school or regional auditions, college music majors refining their craft, adults returning to singing after a hiatus, and professional performers seeking to enhance vocal endurance and stage confidence. I emphasize a comprehensive technical foundation that includes breath management, diaphragmatic support, vocal fold coordination, resonance tuning, and pitch consistency to promote vocal longevity and freedom of expression. However, technique is only part of the story; I believe deeply in nurturing personal artistry by guiding students in phrasing, dynamic control, emotional storytelling, and stylistic interpretation to create truly compelling performances. To keep lessons engaging and results-driven, I incorporate modern technology like live audio recording for real-time feedback, piano accompaniment for harmonic context, and digital apps for pitch, rhythm, and ear training. Original songwriting and vocal improvisation also play a crucial role in my curriculum, encouraging creative exploration and helping students find their distinctive musical voice. Whether your passion lies in pop, R&B, jazz, musical theater, or contemporary genres, I customize lessons to your goals, vocal type, and stylistic preferences. Additionally, I provide specialized coaching in audition preparation, including repertoire selection, memorization techniques, managing stage fright, and projecting presence. Vocal health education is integral to my teaching; I work with students to develop safe warm-up routines, proper hydration habits, and strategies to avoid strain or fatigue. My studio environment is welcoming, patient, and structured to empower students—helping them build not only vocal skill but also the confidence and emotional depth to shine every time they step up to the microphone.

Singing is an act of self-discovery, where technical discipline meets emotional honesty and cultural awareness. In my vocal studio, I approach teaching as a collaborative journey that emphasizes breath-based technique, musical storytelling, stylistic fluency, and personal growth. We begin with the breath—our most primal and expressive force. I guide students through building breath support systems rooted in physical awareness and vocal efficiency.
We explore concepts like appoggio, registration transitions, and vowel tuning through exercises designed to increase flexibility and eliminate strain. I tailor warmups and vocalises to each student's vocal needs, ensuring that technique serves the voice, not the other way around. From that foundation, we move into storytelling. I believe the voice must convey more than pitch and rhythm—it must reflect character, meaning, and mood.
We analyze texts, practice dramatic intention, and explore subtle shifts in articulation, tempo, and vocal color that make a performance memorable and moving. Style is another essential part of vocal development. I expose students to a wide array of vocal genres—classical, jazz, folk, musical theatre, R&B, world music—allowing them to understand and adapt to different vocal aesthetics. We study ornamentation, phrasing norms, and stylistic conventions while also encouraging individuality and artistic license.
Personal growth rounds out the framework. Singing is vulnerable work, and I aim to create a space where students feel supported, seen, and celebrated. We address performance anxiety, build healthy practice habits, and talk openly about setbacks and successes. I help students set meaningful goals and work steadily toward them, always centering their needs, interests, and identity. Every voice is unique, and my job is not to shape a student into someone else, but to help them uncover and refine the voice they already carry. In this way, singing becomes not just a skill, but a path to self-knowledge and empowerment.
