There was a gap in the market that we were able to fill, thanks to technological advances that made online lesson search and delivery more effective. When we got started, in 2013, tutoring (and Superprof) was mainly an academic pursuit. School students were struggling under their heavy academic load, and tutors were available to help them.
The pandemic put many students in a very vulnerable situation, and dropout rates spiked at all academic levels. Fortunately, our proposal has been helpful to students who have had to claw back lost learning due to the lockdown.
How Does Superprof Work for Students?
Creating an Account
If a student wishes to connect with a Superprof, they must set up an account (it's free). When they set up their account, they are notified of Superprof's terms and services as a subscription platform that provides access to millions of tutors worldwide.
The step-by-step process to create an account at Superprof and book a lesson in a few minutes is:
- Click on “Log In” at the top right of our main website, and you'll see the "Sign up" link at the bottom of the pop-up window
- Create your account from your email address, your Facebook account, or your Google account.
Depending on the method used to create your account, you'll be asked to enter your First and Last Name - Choose a password
- Go to your profile and add your city in "My Account"
- Start your search
Finding and Contacting Tutors
The most effective way to use your Superprof subscription is to take your time, carefully combing through Superprof tutor profiles until you have three to five whose profiles come the closest to what you're looking for.
Understanding the Student Pass
We provide a service committed to serving both tutors and students. The Superprof student pass Subscription is the payment fee to access and contact a tutor, and it is 39 per month.
We are a subscription service that charges students a monthly fee for as long as the pass remains active.
Once you initiate contact, your subscription goes live, and Superprof will withdraw your monthly fee from the payment method you provided when you started your subscription.
Once you connect with the right Superprof tutor for your needs, you may agree to take your partnership off the Superprof platform by cancelling your subscription. You will still have access to your Superprof account and your tutor - and still be responsible for paying their fee, but you won't be charged for your subscription anymore.

Arranging Lessons and Payments
As a student on Superprof, once your lesson request is accepted, you can message the tutor on our site or use your preferred method (messaging, phone, or email) to arrange your lesson.
For the payment of your lessons, you have two options available: private offline payment, using a method agreed upon between you and your tutor (cash, wire transfer, cheque, etc.) and Online payment via the Superprof lesson booking system.
While your Student Pass is active, you can book the first lesson through our system too and use the online payment system; the tutor will receive a notification once you've sent this information:
- Propose a lesson
- Offer up to three availabilities (the tutor will select only one if available)
- Choose the date, time, and location of the lesson
- Choose the method of payment
If the tutor is not available, he can suggest new dates. It will then be your turn to accept their proposal. You and your tutor can also decline proposals if you cannot find an arrangement.

How Does Superprof Work for Tutors?
Setting Up a Tutor Profile
Superprof provides a platform for tutors to advertise their tutoring services and arrange lessons with the best students. Creating their profile is free, and you can upload up to 5 ads. Superprof has a member support team ready to help you with anything from setting up your profile to giving advice on how to set up your business and teaching schedule.
Besides that, Superprof publishes a blog that includes topics relevant to current educational trends, as well as current interest topics that may tie in with tutors' areas of speciality.
There is no subscription fee required for any tutor. Having your own page, uploading your video, receiving all your reviews, plus full customer support for any questions you may have about becoming a tutor or improving your ad, is completely FREE.
Managing Lesson Requests
With Superprof, private tutors can manage their requests and receive feedback freely. Tutors' contact information is never sent to students, except when the teacher accepts a lesson request. The process to connect with students goes as follows:
Payment Structure and Earnings
As a tutor, you can get paid through Superprof. There are two options: Off-platform payment (together with the student, you choose the payment method that suits you best) and Online payment (through our fully secure payment platform). PayPal is currently the only method that is supported for receiving payments via Superprof UK.

Suggests the wording is ambiguous for me to think I was paying that to the tutor. Hello, I have stopped this subscription and asked for a refund, I received the refund, but I’m still being charged $49.00 a month. The service was terrible and our tutor. Was never available. Terrified and had to cancel my card as well as my tutor profile as your ‘link’ to the verification process asked for all bank and card details including how much was in my account?! Then it asked me to verify a transfer to some Nigerian account ?!! How can this NOT be a SCAM???
All correspondence with ‘Superprof’ was just weird. You want us to accept and verify our bank for some unknown amount of lessons to a student I know absolutely nothing about…who has apparently already paid? (Who knows what and into what account)
I would not comply with this and they/ you suspended my account. Who are you guys?? Your reviews speak for themselves…what about the subscriptions mess for the poor students too!
