Every student is different, and as a result, every lesson should be different! In our free first session, I'll find out where we should focus our efforts and develop a learning plan based on your needs.
I can help with extra sessions for a variety of students, whether you need some help with your homework, need some extra guidance on tackling those tricky set texts, want some extra revision classes or just need some more guided practice outside of class.
I prefer to teach all of my classes via Skype or Zoom, but I will also travel to students in the local area (supplemental charge may apply).
If there is something else you think I can help with that I haven't explicitly mentioned, please feel free to contact me to discuss different options.
Please note: the first 30 minute free session will be an ice-breaker and needs assessment. We can talk about things you need help with, and have a look at the texts you're studying, but it won't be a full lesson.
I graduated from Queen's University Belfast with a First Class BA (Hons) in English and History. I've studied both literature and language, with a focus on Shakespeare, contemporary and African literature, language in the media and phonetic production. In history, I've written a dissertation with original research on apartheid in South Africa, and studied the American Civil Rights Movement, Thatcher's Britain, inter-war Europe and public history. I also have a TEFL/TESOL certificate.
I worked in South Korea as an ESL teacher for 8 months, volunteered as a teaching assistant in Northern Ireland for two years, tutored in an after school literacy and numeracy programme in Northern Ireland for transfer test candidates for one year, and spent three summers as a teaching and community volunteer in Cape Town. I have been helping friends review their essays and dissertations for years, and I currently teach ESL online to students around the world, with my students varying all the way from Chinese kindergarteners to Brazilian doctors.

Kirstin was such an excellent help to me while I was editing my dissertation. She explained everything really clearly and gave me some fantastic IT tips as well. She was able to point out little errors and show where I could improve on my structure. I would recommend her to anyone looking for help!
