About Matthew
I’m an Oxford graduate with a first in an engineering degree. At A-level I achieved four A*s in maths, further maths, physics, and chemistry.
Years of studying at Oxford and experiencing the highest quality tutorials in the world have given me an understanding of how to best explain concepts and resolve sources of confusion. I was an exceptional student at my time at Oxford. Among my peers, we had a running joke about how frequently I would have to explain solutions to our tutors, and they would go on to explain my solutions to their other students. My tutors themselves occasionally remarked that I might as well be giving the tutorial myself.
What has always motivated me to work and study, is the passion I have for helping others to understand things. During my degree, I spent an excessive amount of time perfecting my problem sheet solutions, knowing that my fellow students were bound to ask me for help when they got stuck. I have always been enthusiastic about supporting and encouraging others who are motivated and keen to learn.
I consider it a deep shame when students fail to meet standards, not because of a lack of ability, but a lack of support and preparation. I hope to offer this to the best of my ability, and help you achieve your full potential. If you’re interested and would like to discuss further, feel free to reach out to me!

I tutor in maths and physics at A-level and GCSE. I can also offer advice on university admissions, practice interviews for engineering/physics, and tutoring for the PAT, MAT, ESAT, STEP, and other admissions tests.
I offer Oxbridge style tutorials in which I work through and explain a set of problems/exam questions of your choosing. I can also correct your attempted solutions. During the tutorials I will ask you about your approach in solving the problems and step in to explain where you are struggling or get stuck. These questions and/or your attempted solutions are sent to me in advance so I can prepare for the tutorial and provide the best possible education, and supply a set of high quality solutions for you to take afterwards. I will familiarise myself with the specification of the qualification you are studying for, so that I can tie my tutoring to the knowledge needed for your exams.
I am able to provide online tutorials, or in-person if you are based in the area.

I studied alongside Matt at Oxford University for several years, he always goes that extra mile to make sure you understand a problem.
He helped me get through my Engineering Masters Degree and graduate with a First Class, so he definitely knows his stuff!
He's very good at breaking a problem down and communicating his knowledge effectively, using jargon you can understand.
Would absolutely recommend Matt as a tutor.Matthew is my friend from university, we both did the Engineering course at the University of Oxford. During our course he was always great at expressing his methods in a clear and organised way. His ability to clearly communicate and patiently listen will make him a brilliant tutor.
