About Keir
Hi! I'm Keir. I am a software engineer, having graduated from Oxford in 2018, and I do tutoring on the side as I enjoy seeing my students improve and thrive.
I understand the struggles of studying, having only recently completed my degree, so you can rest assured that I will be considerate of this. I'll help you build confidence in your abilities, and how to do your best in exams. I understand that academic pressure can be very high, and I can help you negotiate this and improve in a friendly and welcoming environment.
Let's work together to get you where you want to be!

It is important to tailor tutoring to the individual: I will work with the student to identify the most effective learning methods for them, equipping them with skills that will continue to be valuable throughout a degree or other study. Some examples of techniques I use include regular comprehension checks (ensuring that the student understands and can use what has been taught), positive reinforcement, diagrams, summaries at the end of lessons. Ideally students should be able and willing to continue study outside of my lessons, and I will set homework if this is practicable.
Lessons are typically one hour in length, though this may be longer if the student is able to continue to focus and learn effectively over a longer period. Lessons shorter than one hour are not usually effective in my experience.
I have tutored GCSE and A-level students during the breaks whilst studying Engineering at Oxford University, as well as GCSE students whilst I was studying at secondary school. All have seen significant improvements, as tested using mock examinations regularly throughout tutoring
I typically tutor GCSE and A-level students, though I have also tutored younger students down to the age of around 10 in preparation for secondary school admission exams.
