My teaching method is very thorough and includes going over topics until my students understand the subject inside out rather than superficially. This makes their performance in exams and tests far higher and improves their confidence in school. I like to find out more about each student and how they enjoy learning, adapting my techniques to fit how their brain works.
I put a lot of emphasis on past papers and exam reports as its very important to read Examiner's Mind frame before attempting any paper.I use a vast resource of Past papers and Exam reports for my tutees for this.
My main approach to teaching is through worked problems. I set some reading and a series of questions. In tutorials, I ask you to recall as best you can the definitions and ideas from the reading. Then I guide you through the solutions to the problems, discussing alternative approaches and explaining steps you have found difficult.
My teaching method is based on a Cambridge Tutorial- style approach. I like to discuss the subject matter with the student, getting them engaged and asking questions. After thorough explanation of the topic, I will then move onto assisting the student in answering questions. I like to challenge students to push their understanding, but will be there to guide and assist them throughout the process.
1 to 1 sessions at your home, in central Cambridge only. Well planned sessions, supportive and patient, with continual feedback.
My most successful students have found my concept-based approach helpful. Often, the most challenging areas of GCSE/A-Level courses require a more descriptive and intuitive approach, rather than brute text-book learning. I plan lessons around class work my students are undertaking, to best compliment their learning.
I am a qualified secondary mathematics/physics teacher. I have bsc, MSC and PhD in mathematics. I have been tutoring since 1999. I have mainly been working in the software industry and used maths to solve problems in the real world. I enjoy imparting my knowledge on others.
My teaching method is to focus on true understanding of concepts rather than rote memorisation, so will introduce new topics and guide students through a few examples, getting them to talk through each step and eventually to explain the concept to me themselves.
The key to Maths is really understanding how it works rather than remembering set steps to follow. For this reason, I explain things in depth and provide challenging questions which will ensure that you understand fully so as to be prepared for any question thrown at you in an exam.
My teaching method is very simple. I try to teach the basics then build up on it so the student understands the foundations and can tackle any situations.
I believe good teaching consists of explaining possibly complicated concepts in a clear manner and making use of basic principles; this is only possible if the teacher himself has deeply understood the concepts in question. Furthermore, being passionate about what you teach is a way of developing students’ enthusiasm with regards to the subject, which provides the motivation needed to succeed.
For primary level I work to the syllabus and aim to go along side what they are being taught in school to help them to fully understand a topic if they are struggling or to stretch them beyond what they are currently studying.
My teaching method is a pupil-centered, discussion-based one. I base my classes on real-life examples. I approach each topic by paying attention to finer details which are often missed out in textbooks.
I like to teach by understanding rather than by rote. If a student thoroughly understands a concept they are much likelier to remember it, and be able to deal with complicated/unorthodox problems. However this isn't an excuse not to practice. I typically go through some example problems with the student, and then see how the student fares in their own time.
My teaching relies on the socratic method, which includes practise and questions based on the exam board ciriculum. I acknowledge that each student learns differently and so tailor my methodology to the preferences of the student. I have had the best experience with a 60:40 split between content and exam technique.
I base my teaching on the bible and various sandscripts found throughout the world, specifically the river Nile.
I am a very friendly and approachable individual and have built great relationships with my students. Maths is a subject that I have always loved and gained deep satisfaction from learning. I would love to be able to encourage this enjoyment in others. Something I always try to achieve when supporting students with learning maths is to increase their confidence in their own ability.
