About Riley
I earned my B.S. in Computer Science from Oregon State University and have spent the last seven years mentoring students and professionals—helping them go from “Hello, World!” to full-stack portfolio apps. By day I work as a full-stack engineer in Portland’s tech scene; by night I love guiding learners through hands-on projects. My teaching style is patient and pragmatic: we’ll break each concept into bite-sized pieces, build something tangible, and celebrate every breakthrough. I’m available weekday evenings and weekend mornings, both online and in person—let’s build your next project together!

I’ll start by strengthening your core programming fundamentals—variables, loops, functions, and object-oriented design—using Python. From there, we’ll build and train simple AI models (data cleaning with Pandas, constructing a scikit-learn classifier) and wrap them in a Flask API. We’ll also tackle SQL head-on: designing schemas, writing JOINs and aggregate queries, and optimizing performance. Finally, we’ll explore modern JavaScript frameworks (React/Vue)—setting up components, managing state, and connecting to your Python-backed endpoints. Every lesson is project-driven, so you end up with deployable code you can showcase.
