I recommend a book by Alexander Osterwalder, entitled 'Business Model Generation: A Handbook for Visionaries, Game Changers, and Challengers'. It pulls together alot of concepts and has some useful templates for business administration students and entrepreneurs alike.

The key thing to remember is that business models are generic and can cover many industries, so dont get too hung up if there are limited examples in pharma.

Not sure if its a physical or web product you are looking at, if its the latter this website has a good number of academic papers you can access http://www.internetbusinessmodels.org

Is there any recommendations you might have, if I want to do a thesis on the topic, like the research methodology, or the research problem statement?

you might want to examine a number of business models already in use in pharma, and see how effective they are

Sorry to keep asking, but there must surely be models for assessing the business model?

By applying them, you mean we investigate the current model, and suggest more effective ones?

The Osterwalder book gives you a structure in which to categorise and compare business models. Whether they actually work depends on the product : market fit.

If product : market fit isnt appropriate, then it's either a case that the product doesnt fulfil a real customer need, or the business model is wrong for that product.
