what is kinetic energy?

Answers
Kinetic energy is the energy of motion. If an object is moving in someway (upwards, downwards, sideways) then it has kinetic energy. There are many forms of kinetic energy - vibrational (the energy due to vibrational motion), rotational (the energy due to rotational motion), and translational (the energy due to motion from one location to another). Mostly we think about kinetic energy as being translational (particularly up to GCSE level) but it's important to remember the other forms it can take too.
