Hi! I’m a violin tutor with over 6 years of teaching experience and a Bachelor of Music in Composition with a focus on violin. My passion lies in exploring crossover styles—jazz, rock, hip-hop strings, and world music—all through the lens of creative expression and performance. I specialize in helping students break free from tradition and discover new ways to play. Using looping pedals, effects, and improvisation, I guide players in building dynamic, layered performances. My teaching approach focuses on building strong sight-reading skills for violinists at all levels. I take a clear, step-by-step method that helps you connect what you see on the page with what you play on your instrument. We work on recognizing key signatures, complex rhythms, ledger lines, and multiple clefs to build reading confidence.
I guide students through multi-part scores and help them understand how their part fits into the bigger musical picture. You’ll learn to read ahead, track multiple voices, and stay rhythmically solid—all while keeping good tone and technique. We use targeted reading exercises, rhythm drills, and real sheet music examples to strengthen your fluency.
My goal is to help you play new pieces almost instantly, with less hesitation and more joy. This is especially helpful if you’re performing regularly in ensembles, theatre productions, or worship groups. I support your goals by giving you the tools to read and respond to music in real time.
Lessons are paced to your level, and progress happens quickly with consistent practice. Together, we’ll build reliable, flexible sight-reading skills that you can carry into every performance setting.
