I have deeply enjoyed history and historiography from high school, where I received top marks, through university, where we studied history from Australia, the Americas, Europe, Asia and the Middle East, to the present, where I still read and learn history on a regular basis. In recent years, I have particularly tried to focus on history retold from the perspective of those left out of the traditional view, which is really just anyone who isn't a white, upper-class, European male. This broader and more complex view of history leads to a more nuanced understanding of the past, particularly from a social perspective. I try to bring this knowledge to the classroom, to help the student understand history contextually and how it is shaped through an interplay of individual personalities and social, economic and political trends. I work to include as much primary evidence as possible and always encourage students to approach both primary and secondary sources critically, considering the bias and intention of the source. If I'm not familiar enough with the particular aspect of history the student is studying, I will do the necessary research to be able to help them competently. I really enjoy history and try to bring my enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to every class I teach. I see the most substantial and sustained improvement when I work with students for 1-3 hours a week, for a minimum of 2-3 months. With 2-3 months, I generally start to see my students improve. With 6 months it seems this improvement becomes more substantial and long-lasting. I always prioritize the safety and mental well-being of the student.

With Edugraff, Jaye has been tutoring my son Alan in English weekly for nine months now and we have seen an improvment in his marks, his confidence and he is currently having issues with quality and structure of his writing he would like to focus in-depth on past works and improve further.
They work together to identify areas Alan can improve in and he seems comfortable and happy how it's going.I was lucky to be introduced to Jaye through a friend who spoke highly of her as an English tutor. As a non-native speaker running a business in Australia, I recognized the importance of fluent English in establishing meaningful connections, whether at formal business events or casual networking functions.
Upon approaching Jaye, my aim was to enhance my grammar skills in both speaking and writing, and to gain insights into how native speakers communicate with each other. From the very beginning, Jaye displayed a keen interest in understanding my specific needs and business context. She took the time to familiarize herself with my industry, ensuring that the content we covered was not only relevant but also tailored to my situation.
What sets Jaye apart is not just her effective teaching approach and methods, but also her ability to create a comfortable and enjoyable learning environment. In our classes, she attentively listens to my concerns and feelings, making the learning experience truly personalized. Jaye goes above and beyond by crafting post-class plans and tasks for me to practice and reinforce what I've learned.
I highly recommend Jaye to anyone seeking to improve their English for specific professional needs. Her dedication, personalized approach, and ability to create a tailored learning experience make her an exceptional tutor. Thanks to Jaye, I not only feel more confident in my language skills but also genuinely enjoy the learning process.
