About Nolan
I’m a piano tutor with 7 years of experience and a Bachelor of Arts in Musicology, specializing in Piano History. My passion lies in jazz piano, where creativity and structure meet. I help students explore improvisation, master comping techniques, and build a rich harmonic vocabulary that brings their playing to life. My approach is rooted in holistic musical development. We dive deep into jazz theory, strengthen ears for complex chords, and refine rhythmic accuracy through transcription and focused listening. I believe that real growth comes from understanding both the “how” and the “why” behind the music. Students from Early Intermediate to Advanced Intermediate levels have flourished under my guidance. I’ve also supported Professional and Expert jazz musicians seeking a fresh take or deeper insight into improvisation. Lessons are structured yet flexible, blending theory, instinct, and play. Each session is designed to unlock personal style while grounding technique in tradition. Whether you’re comping in a trio or creating solo arrangements, I help you find your voice at the keys. Let’s begin your journey into spontaneous musical expression and the endless colors of jazz piano.

My piano teaching approach blends classical technique with modern music technology to give students a full and creative experience. I focus on strong fundamentals, while also exploring the exciting world of digital pianos, synthesizers, and music software. Lessons include how to use DAWs, basic recording techniques, and sound layering to expand musical expression.
This method helps students connect traditional piano playing with today’s tools and sounds. I support learners in building confidence both on acoustic keys and digital setups. From learning clean finger technique to programming custom tones, we cover it all.
I work especially well with The Classical Performer and The Child Prodigy, guiding them to explore both structure and innovation. Each lesson is built around creativity, problem-solving, and personal style. I also teach how to record, listen back, and make changes to grow as a musician.
We dive into composing with virtual instruments, arranging songs, and shaping sound in real time. My goal is to help students enjoy both discipline and discovery. Let’s make your piano sound bigger, brighter, and uniquely yours.
