About Alexander
I am an Actuarial Student at Melbourne University, which uses Math and Data Science to predict the future! I have always focused on why formulas and theories work, diving into how they operate. This builds an uncrackable foundation of intuition that will allow you to solve any problem, even those beyond your year level! This mindset can just as easily be applied to English, by asking what the assessors are looking for and how to insert this into a well-structured essay.
Above all, it is important to remain positive by living holistically. This means balancing your study with socializing and hobbies to be ready and happy to learn. This is why I have held various leadership positions at school and university, and continue to have fun with friends, which help maintain my very high marks.

Difficulties at school often start with not understanding the problems and theories – my focus on first principles is how I have achieved distinctions in the Australian Mathematics Competition and first place is science competitions. Maths and the rest of school is intuitive, I teach my students how to think like this to build a self-sustaining foundation.
I also focus on the benefits of a well-rounded life and how to deal with stress. The largest impact on learning is often not the time spent studying but instead psychology. Remaining social and motivated makes it easier to teach and for the student to learn (and even more cooperative at home!). That is how I am successful not only academically but also a captain and chairperson of school committees, and currently the director at a university club. I bring life not only to the subjects, but the student as well.

Alexander has been tutoring my daughter in maths and English for over a year and a half, and the improvement has been incredible. He explains things clearly, focuses on building real understanding, and genuinely cares about her learning and wellbeing. Her marks and confidence have both grown so much. I highly recommend him.
Alex helped me not only pass Linear Algebra in uni, but made it one of my best subjects! Maths has always been an area of weakness for me, and after failing the prerequisite the first time I was not sure if I could pass Linear Algebra. But with him I succeeded first time and is one of my highest scores to date!
No doubt I couldn't have passed it without him. Being a gruelling subject with ~30% fail rate he helped me understand all the class material with in-person derivations and explaining each step along with a real-world example to make it stick. He especially helped with questions I was struggling with by explaining it simply yet deeply so I understood what it was asking and why I was using the method I was just instructed to use in class.
He even helped me with course planning as I have been struggling with where to take my next step. With personal experiences and his other students he gave me a great run-down of the available university courses based on what I enjoy and want to achieve. Who knew he was a great mentor too?
I attribute my success to Alex!View more recommendations
