About Lucy
Can you imagine a world made up of tiny little strings, all vibrating and singing a cosmic symphony that composes a beautiful reality? That beyond the subatomic scale are hidden and curled-up dimensions in addition to our familiar four of space and time? That an entire universe is clinging to the surface of a higher-dimensional membrane floating in hyperspace, waiting to collide with another and set off a second big bang?
Can you imagine that being our universe?
I was hooked, and from the first day my eyes were opened to our strange and wonderful world I was set on a journey that has taken me to a Masters in Physics from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Mathematics in the Far East - Tsinghua University, Beijing. Now I work as a freelance tutor, helping students achieve their goals and inspiring the next generation of physicists and mathematicians.

Whether you’re breezing ahead, falling behind or studying independently, I will meet you where you’re at and help you achieve your goals. My sessions encourage interactivity and creativity. It’s not an hour or two of me talking at you, but a team effort – you can have real impact on the session, on what we study, and you’re given the space to tackle difficult challenges, make valuable mistakes and grow from them. And if one method doesn’t work for you, we’ll try another until we find the right fit.
I've been tutoring for four years with a private agency while studying for my doctorate in mathematics. In that time I have helped one student obtain an A* and three obtain places at university. I've also been a teaching assistant for undergraduate courses in China for four years, delivering lectures, problem classes and marking homework and exams. With my unique experiences, I can blend together different techniques to help you in your journey through study and help you understand what the examiners are looking for.
I offer tutorials for maths and physics at KS3, GCSE and A-level, and in adjacent subjects like further maths, statistics and science.

Hi, I am Max.
The reason why I recommend and trust Lucy is simply because the Lucy explains complex topics is clear, concise, and engaging. I appreciate her teaching method, being so flexible and tailored to the student. Alternatively, just trust the professional and be guided!
Personally, I liked Lucy's approach to remove any formalities and build a more friendly relationship, which greatly helped me to unlock myself, allowing me to reason and speak more freely.
Lucy was my math tutor.
I would recommend her because her lessons are interactive and adaptive. She was patient and responsive to my questions. She worked with me to figure out what my weaknesses and strengths are, and planned our lessons around them. She had very good knowledge of the subject and her notes are clear and easy to read.
She was also very helpful outside of learning the subject, helping me figure out other aspects of pursuing academic success.View more recommendations
