About Desmond
I recently finished my PhD at Cambridge, where I studied gothic novels from the turn of the nineteenth century. Despite that narrow specialism, I've studied and taught widely over the course of my studies, and I'm always excited to share what I've learned -- whether that's formally with students, or informally with whichever unsuspecting acquaintance happens to have the misfortune of asking me what I do for a living!

Over the long course of my undergraduate and postgraduate studies, I've researched and taught all manner of texts from Keats to Kafka, both in 1:1 and group formats.
I'm a flexible and adaptible tutor ready and willing to tailor my teaching to the needs of each student: this means that my sessions can be highly structured and informative or more free-flowing and discursive. Generally, I thrive most teaching students aiming for the highest grades at GCSE and A-Level (and indeed above) as these are the students that tend to benefit most from my advanced knowledge of the subject.
