About Kimberly
I believe students learn best when they are in an environment that sees them as a full person rather than as a student who is there to be fed knowledge. I focus on skills that align with the ways students learn individually. My practice incorporates music, art, and pop culture to help students develop their critical thinking skills so they can craft their own arguments. Using a differentiated approach, I teach usage, coherence, conciseness, and literary analysis in ways that students can translate to real world results, allowing them to cultivate confidence as they prepare for exams, college applications, and/or career prospects. Students come first in my class.

I focus on building skills in writing and composition that students can translate to their other coursework, future academic and/or vocational careers, and to everyday communication, which, I believe, will help them both in terms of testing and everyday life. I cater to the needs of my students and use differentiated instruction because every student is unique and learns differently. I incorporate contemporary pop cultural resources to supplement the traditional curricula as a means to connect to students. I have taught courses in academic writing, writing and reasoning, American Literature, and within middle and secondary school, I have experience in general education, special education, and English (grades 5-12).
