My passion is for bringing subjects to life for students so that instead of learning facts they are able to take the stories into their tests, ensuring a higher level of success. I take a holistic approach to my students so that I am able to help them achieve their goals by supporting their existing strengths whilst helping to hone and refine areas that challenge them.
My teaching approach is different the average. I have struggled with concentrating my entire educational career, but have discovered different fun and engaging techniques and tricks to maintain focus and retain material and I would like to teach and share these with my students.
I base my teaching on the needs of the student. I work with the student to identify their strengths and areas to improve. I will usually begin a lesson with a short warm-up, a game, quiz or revision activity. Then, I like to build up an understanding of the lesson topic with short high-paced tasks that will build confidence and provide a challenge.
I use an energetic approach and maintain a level of fun while increasing the interest within the topics being taught.
I would like to give lessons to students up to GCSE year. My focus is going to be on allowing students to express their thoughts into words. I find that most students actually do have great things to say, yet the problem is actually putting them into words, especially under time conditions.
