About Salomé
Born and raised in Nantes, on the west coast of France, I am a 19-year-old student at McGill University in Montreal. Before joining McGill, I followed an international curriculum in high school, obtaining my International French Baccalauréat (OIB) with an overall average of 18 out of 20. My subjects of specialization in high school were mathematics, American literature, history, geography, economics, sociology, and geopolitics. I am currently in my second year of undergraduate studies at McGill, pursuing the honors program in political science as well as a minor in economics. At university, I am co-president of McGill Éloquence, a student association organizing speech contests and workshops in French. Besides academics, I practice swimming twice a week, and musical dancing once a week. Very passionate about the art of dancing, I also followed lessons of modern jazz dancing, and contemporary dancing in the past. My other hobbies include baking, reading, going to the movies, traveling, and spending time with my friends and family. I have worked with youth in the past as part of several volunteering experiences, including tutoring, debate clubs, and civic education initiatives, notably through the European Youth Parliament, of which I have been a member since 2021. I decided to start teaching and tutoring as a way to earn money as a student while engaging in interactive, stimulating human relations. I figured teaching would allow me to share my passion for history and teaching while also helping others improve and be proud of themselves.

As a political science student, I specialize in teaching history and geography, but I am also equipped to offer lessons in economics, sociology, and French. My approach as a tutor emphasizes creating a stress-free and engaging learning environment. I believe that students learn best when they feel comfortable, supported, and genuinely interested in the subject matter.
My teaching philosophy revolves around interaction and active participation. I incorporate a variety of techniques to ensure students remain engaged and motivated. These include:
- interactive discussions to deepen understanding and encourage critical thinking,
- quizzes, games, and role-playing exercises to make learning fun and memorable,
- practical examples and real-world applications to illustrate abstract concepts,
- visual aids and drawings to enhance understanding and support retention.
A typical lesson plan would consist first of a warm-up with a brief review or fun quiz to recap the previous lesson. Then, I would introduce new concepts using engaging methods like storytelling, multimedia, or interactive maps. The rest of the class would consist of interactive activities to apply the concepts in practice, such as debates or case studies, and finally we would summarize the key points and answer any lingering questions. If necessary, I would assign light tasks to reinforce the day’s learning, and prepare for the next lesson.
What distinguishes me as a tutor is my commitment to fostering curiosity and confidence. I aim to make each session dynamic and enjoyable, tailoring my methods to the individual needs and goals of my students. I draw from my background in political science to offer unique insights, encouraging students to think critically and connect the dots between various disciplines. My multilingual capabilities and diverse academic experience enable me to adapt lessons for different contexts and learners.
My lessons are suitable for elementary, middle school, and high school students preparing for exams or seeking to improve their grades in history, geography, economics, sociology, or French.
My lessons are available both in English or French.
