Need urgent help with an assignment!

Hello everyone,

I'm a first-year university English student and need immediate help. I'm doing very well in all my subjects so this is the last thing I would ever do. It's quite a long story which I'd rather not write here, but I need to hand it in today, and as soon as possible!

The assignment was supposed to be on a text of your choice, and I'm supposed to use at least 6 sources from JStore.org (as I cannot use printed sources because I'm blind). I chose to write about the representation of nature in Wordsworth's "I wandered lonely as a cloud", one of my favourite poems. It should be just 2 pages, but I have no idea how to start it off, probably because I'm too stressed. I'd be eternally grateful for any help!

Hi,Don't worry abot how to start it off.  Just start off by analysing a line or two.  You need to write the body of the essay before you can write the introduction, just as you can't introduce a person unless you know who he or she is.  Personally, I'd start withThe waves beside them danced; but they Out-did the sparkling waves in glee:This has always reminded me of the pastoral scene in The Winter's Tale, and Florizel's lines, when you do dance, I wish you A wave o' the sea, that you might ever do Nothing but that; move still, still so, And own no other function: each your doing, So singular in each particular, Crowns what you are doing in the present deed, That all your acts are queens.I'm not sure why you chose this poem other than that you like it, not always the best reason.  The representation of nature in Wordsworth's Tintern Abbey, Intimations Ode and The Prelude Book 1 is more complex and interesting in my opinion.  The link between nature and the sea figures in those works too...If you want to chat with me about this, I'm available this evening.  Otherwise, good luck.

Hi Dora,I'm sorry to see that you didn't receive any responses in time for your assignment, and hope that you managed something in the end. I'd be happy to help you if you need any further help with Wordsworth; the theme of nature in "I wandered lonely as a cloud" is fascinating - but probably not very enjoyable to solve overnight! All assignments should begin with a brief summary of what you hope to consider in the piece, it not only gives the reader a brief synopsis but also gives yourself a burst of ideas whilst allowing a decent amount of reflection on what you about to write. Write a summary of what you want to include and delete it afterwards if you don't need it. You will find the ideas flowing even if the original work is poor quality.

The best thing to do is to just start analysing the text.
