About Craig
My tutoring experience began in high school, helping friends and classmates with the subjects that we were learning. This activity became a pattern that I would continue as time went on.
I graduated from the University of Waterloo in 2018 with a bachelour of arts in psychology, with honours. This means that I have completed the undergraduate university learning experience and then did some time doing research in a psychology lab to write an honours thesis.
Since then, I have been a support through various roles. I started with helping people with intellectual disabilities in day-to-day life and long-term goal achievement. I then spent a small amount of time as frontline in a women's shelter where I helped people with their personal development, mental health, and housing goals. Over the past year I have been working with school-aged kids in their day-to-day development, and have been providing tutoring and writing feedback to others online.
Through these roles, I have helped others learn and learned from them about how curiosity, motivation and experience come together in optimal learning. And, how a good teacher will provide the scaffolding that a learner needs to build up solid skills and comprehensive knowledge.

I have experience teaching to all levels of experience/ education. With my broad writing experience, I can offer help with a wide range of subject areas; from university level essays and scientific papers to elementary maths, english, and grammar. I also love to share my interest in music, prose, creative writing and basic computer skills/ programming with anyone who is starting on those subjects.

A basic lesson plan starts with 3 questions:
1) What do you need to know/ improve?
2) What do you already know about it?
3) How can we break down the topic so that there are clear steps to achieving your goal?
--
Sometimes this is simply planned practice and optimization, or it could be further research and creative exploration. Each person is unique in how they learn!
