About Kris

Hi there, I’m Kris! I graduated high school in 2022 as a valedictorian and recently graduated with an Associates in Business. My goal is to help others whose shoes I was once in. With 3 years of experience as a private tutor, I’m only feeling more confident and excited to help more people! Some parents may be worried that their kids are too shy for a tutor, but the truth is, I was able to connect with many kids who were reserved and closed off at first, who are now comfortable with sharing their lives with me like a friend!

I help students navigate any tough concepts by guiding them through their homework 1 on 1. It can be stressful when math becomes a subject you or your child struggle with. The good news is, you have someone like me, who has taken all the math classes from algebra to pre calculus, and are currently still taking more, to help you with your needs!

  • 1. When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I've always enjoyed math and helping classmates understand it. In high school, I realized I had a talent for explaining concepts, which led me to start tutoring.
  • 2. Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

I teach math, covering algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. I love problem-solving topics like algebra and calculus but prefer when students understand concepts rather than just memorizing formulas.
  • 3. Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Yes, my high school math teacher made even tough topics engaging and encouraged creative problem-solving. Their approach inspired how I teach today.
  • 4. What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Patience, adaptability, and the ability to explain concepts in different ways. A good tutor makes learning relatable and helps build confidence.
  • 5. Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

I once tutored a student who thought they were "bad at math." By focusing on their strengths, they gained confidence and improved significantly.
  • 6. What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still face in your subject?

Helping students overcome math anxiety is a big challenge. Many struggle with confidence, so I focus on making math feel approachable.
  • 7. Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

I love making learning accessible and engaging. Beyond tutoring, I also enjoy creating content that simplifies complex topics.
  • 8. What makes you unique as a tutor?

My easygoing approach helps students feel comfortable, and I focus on real-world applications. With my academic background, I also offer study strategies and practical math insights.
