About Jooli
Hello, My name is Jooli (Julie) Hansen, and I recently graduated with a Master’s degree in Forensic Toxicology, following my undergraduate studies in Forensic Science. Throughout my academic journey, I was required to take a wide range of courses, but the most challenging for me were mathematics and chemistry. I struggled with these subjects at first because I hadn’t yet developed effective study and memory techniques. As the material became more complex and topics began to build on one another, it became even more difficult to keep up. Eventually, I sought help through tutoring, which not only helped me pass my classes but also gave me the confidence to succeed in higher education.

What sets me apart from other tutors is my focus on teaching techniques that help students not only understand the material, but also retain it long-term. I recognize that many topics in math and science build on one another, and forgetting foundational concepts can make higher-level learning much more difficult. To address this, I emphasize memory-friendly strategies and active recall. Additionally, I simplify complex topics by relating them to each student's interests and by developing customized problem-solving approaches tailored to their learning style.
Lesson Plan Strategy:
Initial Lesson: Assessment, discuss goals, and discuss different strategic ways of learning
Lessons: After the initial lesson, I will then tailor my lesson plans to my student's specific needs and interests.
