Answers
Let x be the number of apples in the mystery bag. Now how many apples are there altogether? x + 7 + 7 + 8 + 8 + 8 + 9 and so on. This number divided by 15 is equal to 9. So you can construct an equation and solve it to get x. Alternatively you can try adding a bag of 7, then a bag of 8, then a bag of 9 and so on until the mean comes out as exactly 9. Good luck.
