# maths homework help?

A company makes large bags of crisps which contain 90 grams of fat. The company aims to reduce the fat content of the crisps by 50%. They decide to reduce the fat content by 20% each year. Will they have achieved their aim by the end of the 3rd year? Justify your answer.

Well 50% of 90 is half of 90 which is 45. So you now need to see if the reduction of 20% each year for 3 years gets to 45 or below

In the 1 st year 20% of 90 is 18 so the fat is reduced to 90 - 18 = 72

After year 2 it is 20% of 72 which is 14.4 so the fat is reduced to 72 - 14.4 = 57.6

After year 3 it is 20% of 57.6 = 11.52 so that fat is reduced to 57.6 - 11.52 = 46.08
