how do we affect the globe

The effect that humans have had and continue to have on their environment (the Earth/ the Globe) is a hot topic. There is a considerable amount of scientific evidence that human generated 'greenhouse gases' are altering the atmosphere. With those changes come a lot of unknown consequences. To be fair, there are a number of people who deny that changes to our climate are man-made. in addition to climate change, there have been issues such as the deforestation of large section of the Amazon rainforest, pollution of rivers, destruction of natural habitats and oil spills as a result of our voracious need for energy (oil etc). The leak into the Gulf of Mexico from the Macondo oil installation is a good example, but in the past, there have been large oil spills in Alaska and other parts of the world. We share the planet with a host of other species and as the human population expands, it is frequently at the expense of other species. On the other side, human beings can have a positive impact on their environment: helping to care and support for animals and natural habitats. In the USA, a number of people have worked hard to reintroduce wild bison to the Great Plains and through study and greater understanding of our world, human beings can have a positive impact.
