Around the world, athletes of all types have found a competition to be excited about: Hyrox. Unlike the Olympics or CrossFit, where only the best of the best stand a chance at competing, Hyrox races are open to everyone. Participants run eight kilometres, completing a station after every kilometre run. But don't think of it as common circuit training; these Hyrox gyms Birmingham prove that Hyrox is something more.

What Is a Hyrox Gym Birmingham?
To understand why Hyrox gyms are slightly different from even high-performance gyms, you must know what Hyrox is about. It is a race, not a fitness methodology like CrossFit and High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT).

That doesn't mean that Hyrox is any less intense. In fact, CrossFit devotees often become Hyrox athletes because the challenges take them beyond what CrossFit can do for them. Both disciplines involve intense workouts, but where CrossFit is varied and ever-changing, Hyrox is predictable.
Hyrox combines running with circuit training to deliver a unique - and uniquely popular - fitness initiative1. The template is simple: run one kilometre (km), then step off the running track to complete a station challenge. Once you've completed it, you re-enter the track to run another kilometre, after which your next challenge awaits.
And so on, until you've completed the eight km run and all eight stations. Each station has a rep or distance requirement; for instance, racers will row the equivalent of one kilometre. In order, the stations are vertical skiing machines (SkiErg), sled pushes and pulls, burpee broad jumps, rowing, kettlebell farmer's carry, walking lunges with sandbags, and wall balls.
1. Hyrox events are always indoors, making weather-related issues moot.
2. Hyrox athletes compete in several divisions: Open, Doubles, Pro, Relay, Adaptive (for impaired athletes), and Youngstars (for ages 8-15).
3. Hyrox athletes do not race against time or other competitors, only against themselves.
Unlike other types of athletic competitions - the zero-sum, "Gotta beat everyone else!" type of spectacles, Hyrox events are more enthusiastic and festive. Participants are there to prove something only to themselves and for the fun of racing. These qualities make Hyrox the ideal race for the Brummie crowd.
Birmingham Hyrox Events
To date, Birmingham has hosted five Hyrox events2, and we have another scheduled for November 2026.
This year's race will feature the debut of the Hyrox Youngstars division, giving Birmingham's youngest competitors their chance to shine. Athletes as young as eight and up to age 15 may sign up for their place on the starting line.
As an aside, this year's London Hyrox race will also include the Youngstars division. Now, back to Birmingham.
The races take place in the city's National Exhibition Centre (NEC), a facility with generous floor space to accommodate all the Birmingham competitors.
And all those who descend on the city to test their mettle at the Birmingham events.

The people of Birmingham are generally into fitness, so gyms of all types dot this city. As you might imagine, with Hyrox being so popular, many of them have incorporated Hyrox elements into their training plans.
Birmingham is full of great fitness centres that offer a variety of training programmes.
The gyms on this list specifically feature Hyrox equipment and training programmes.
When we were hunting for Hyrox gyms in Cardiff to explore, specific information about such facilities was scattered and disorganised. While researching Hyrox facilities in Birmingham, by contrast, a long list of facilities manifested itself3, making our job easier. Here, we present the clubs that specialise in Hyrox training.
Your search for "Best Hyrox gym near me Birmingham" will likely turn up many CrossFit training facilities. Those gyms are suitable for Hyrox-like training, but if you're specifically aiming for Hyrox training centres, be sure to check one of these centres first.
Willclare Fitness Club
This club is an obvious first stop for the Hyrox curious. Willclaire is a well-established fitness facility that doesn't hesitate to embrace the latest fitness wave. Not that Hyrox is exactly new; athletes have been running these races since 2018.
Willclare is partnered with Hyrox, meaning it receives updates and training materials from Hyrox.
Birmingham - and Willclare, specifically - have been at the forefront of the growing Hyrox wave in the UK. This club's Hyrox training programme is well designed, with certified instructors well experienced in guiding trainees through the stations. If you'd rather have personalised instruction, Willclare has private coaches to guide your Hyrox journey.
Simply Gym Coventry
Simply Gym in Coventry is also an official Hyrox gym; like Willclare, it gets race updates straight from Hyrox. Naturally, this facility has all the equipment and certified trainers athletes need to make their Hyrox debut. Or, if they're experienced Hyrox athletes, they'll find everything they need to hone their technique and keep their endurance up.
Simply Gym Coventry is the first gym we found that features a kids' Hyrox training programme.
Flashing to the official world debut of the Youngstars division in Birmingham's upcoming event, Simply's kids' training programme is remarkable. It proves that, once again, Birmingham leads the pack, both in fitness initiatives and in Hyrox achievements.
Forders Gym
Roughly 20 km south of Birmingham, in Beoley, you'll find yet another official Hyrox gym affiliate. In fact, according to Forders staff, this facility was one of the first to become Hyrox certified. Its programme is comprehensive, including personal and small-group training.
Join Forders on Tuesdays at 18:30 to compete in their weekly racing event.
Forders is serious about training, but not necessarily generous about disclosing information. For the Forders folk, seeing is believing, and experiencing outdoes them both, so they encourage athletes to visit their facility. Curiously enough, we found a few Manchester Hyrox training centres with the same principle. Doesn't it make you want to check things out?
Emporium Gym
Emporium is clean, bright, and well-appointed - all the features that compel people to return again and again. But that's not why Emporium keeps their facilities well-lit, and it's not why athletes keep returning.
This expansive fitness facility fills its 18,000 square metres with state-of-the-art fitness equipment, arranged to suit various initiatives. You might spend more time in the free weights section or, if you're a Hyrox enthusiast, you'll love working out in Emporium's dedicated space.
Emporium regrets to inform you that you'll find no available Hyrox classes for the next six months.
However, this gym's roster of personal trainers gives you access to the Hyrox coaching you need. Alternately, you might log onto the Superprof platform. There, you'll find 18 Hyrox Superprofs in Birmingham ready to guide you through your Hyrox journey.
Siblin Gym
If you happen to live in Birmingham's northern areas, your search for 'Best Hyrox gym near me Birmingham' might lead you right to Siblin Gym. It lies around 26 km northeast of the city, but what it has to offer makes the travel worthwhile.

Here, you'll find a dedicated Hyrox space, complete with sleds, SkiErgs, and all the other equipment you need to train for your next event. You'll also find an assortment of standard fitness programmes from yoga and spin to weights and circuit training.
Naturally, that means you'll find qualified instructors and personal trainers, all ready to help you meet your fitness goals. You might join one of Siblin's Hyrox classes - always done in small groups.
If you're already familiar with Hyrox elements, you may steer your own training plan, perhaps working on the elements you're weakest in.
Birmingham's Hyrox community is vibrant, enthusiastic, and welcoming, almost as vivid as the Hyrox clubs in Glasgow are. Don't be surprised if you connect with other Hyrox athletes at whichever Hyrox gym Birmingham you train in. After all, Hyrox enthusiasts are a special type of fitness fan, the type who prefer to compete against themselves, not others.
