About Abby
As an English teacher at a private middle school in Manhattan, I engage with students with varying needs each day. In my relationships with students, I aim to build trust, confidence, and independence. I want students to understand the material—and then, I want them to go even deeper. How should young readers grapple with the ending of Mice and Men? Why is it that the letters "ea" make so many different sounds? How do we thoughtfully and rigorously engage with the words, stories, and ideas all around us?
I'm a true English nerd. Between my time studying literature at Columbia, years of essay editing for high school students, and volunteer work as a reading/writing tutor for underserved populations, I've cultivated my passions for both the English language and for intellectually supporting others.
