what does semicolon e.g " : " means in math

Answers
It has a number of uses, but most commonly it represents the idea of a ratio or a scale. In maps you might see 1:50,000 meaning "1 inch on the map represents 50,000 inches in the real world". There are other technical uses but that's the main one. Also that's a colon not a semicolon.
