so we multiply 3 by 3 to get 3/4= 9/12

we multiply 4 by 2 to get 2/3 = 8/12

for 2/3, 3 goes into 12, 4 times

adding them together 9/12 +8/12 = 17/12

because 17 is larger than 12 this simplifies to 1 and 5/12 (because 17-12 = 5)
