Learn English with an ESOL tutor in Edenbridge

The 70/30 rule is a teaching principle where students speak 70% of the time and listen 30%.

The logic behind 70/30 is simple but powerful:

• Active practice builds fluency: the more you speak, the faster you retrieve vocabulary
• Mistakes become learning moments: instant guidance prevents fossilised mistakes
• Confidence grows through use: the more you talk, the more natural English feels

Many courses put the teacher centre stage, which limits student practice. Private ESOL tutoring lets you flip that balance and maximise your speaking time.

A good ESOL tutor creates activities that keep you talking: role-plays, discussions, and real-life scenarios.

ESOL lessons in Edenbridge typically cost £18/h per hour.

Your final cost depends on these considerations:

• The student's proficiency (beginner, intermediate, or advanced)
• Your tutor's background (CELTA, DELTA, teaching certificates)
• How often you study (one-hour or ninety-minute lessons)
• The format (online, face-to-face at home, or at the tutor's location)

Booking a block of lessons often reduces the hourly rate. Video lessons tend to cost less and still deliver excellent progress. A free trial lesson is common, so you can check compatibility before committing.

ESOL stands for English for Speakers of Other Languages. These are English classes created specifically for learners with a different mother tongue.

Your ESOL tutor will focus on building four key abilities:

• Reading comprehension: decoding texts for daily life, work, and study
• Writing: composing clear sentences, emails, and forms
• Listening skills: following spoken English in conversations and media
• Speaking: communicating clearly with colleagues and neighbours

What sets ESOL apart is its emphasis on living, working, and studying in Britain.
