Find a French Tutor Near Me in Burnley

The subjunctive is widely considered the trickiest tense in French. It expresses doubt, emotion, necessity, or hypothetical situations rather than facts.

• Trigger phrases — Expressions like "il faut que", "je veux que", or "bien que" require the subjunctive.
• Irregular stems — High-frequency verbs have unique subjunctive forms you must memorise.
• Practice tip — Memorise complete phrases before analysing the grammar.

Regular practice with real sentences helps this tense feel less intimidating over time.

• Lesson length and frequency (weekly, intensive, or occasional)
• The lesson format (online, at home, or at the tutor's location)

Many tutors offer discounted rates when you book multiple sessions in advance. Quite a few tutors give a free first lesson so you can check the fit before committing.
