I am a very experienced teacher and know the areas people have problems with when learning a language. I teach children and adults - the latter has included several courses for employees at local companies to help them get by in everyday situations in a German speaking country - and my tutoring can be as formal or as informal as you require.
In each lesson, I start with some brief facts for grammar, and set a worksheet homework on that. This lets you become strong in reading and writing. We then move on, to practice vocabulary and phrases, to improve listening, speaking and pronunciation.
I believe that you can only really learn a language if you practice speaking as much as possible. To me, it's important that my students are not scared to speak German, so my lessons are more interactive instead of just me, rambling on and on.
I'm a very patient and empathic person and willing to teach you the content, you need to learn. I'll give you as much time, as you need and support you, the best I can.
I belive in the philosophy of 'learning by doing', which means that I want to engage in conversations and discussions purely in German as part of my classes, as well as giving short free-form essay homework each week that I would then correct with the student. It is important to lose the fear of speaking and practically do as much as possible to start feeling comfortable.
I have given lessons up to GCSE standard and improved exam technique amongst languages. I work on writing and comprehension as well as speaking and listening, as well as trying to make it as fun as possible.
I am a strong believer that lessons should interactive, fun and engaging. The student is always at the centre of the lesson, with lessons going at a suitable pace. After an initial determination of the student's language level, end objectives and learning style (Visual, Audio, Kinetic), I will prepare - and adapt when necessary - tailored grammar exercises and vocabulary work.
At the moment, I am currently working on my teaching method as I haven't had a lesson yet. However, my method would adapt to the student's most effective way of learning, e.g. flashcards, read and cover up, writing it out or another different one. I would most certainly create a 'test' at the end of each topic to test the knowledge of the student.
I give lessons to A Level students looking to practise their speaking and written comprehension, and GCSE students looking to practise any skills. My techniques include questions and answers, sample texts, reading aloud, answering questions based on a text and giving a summary.
