My teaching method focuses on understanding of the underlying principle to the work - I firmly believe that once the underlying principle makes sense on an intuitive level to the student, it is then simple to apply that to any problem.
When learning any topic, there is an easy way and a hard way. The easy way builds a foundation of simple topics and cements them to build higher level concepts on top of. The hard way tries to build the higher level concepts without a firm foundation.
As an engineering student with particular interest in futuristic technologies such as quantum computers, I am eager to share my expertise to anyone with some basic understanding of physics and mathematics in a manner that puts more emphasis on intuition than on the mathematics. Likewise, my approach to mathematics (calculus, geometry, algebra, trigonometry, etc.
When you're really stuck with Maths, it sucks, isn't it? I remember how a little bit of one to one tutoring had helped me develop a logical way of tackling problems. My teaching focuses on the following: 1. Reading the question damn right 2. Visualising what it's asking 3. Going backwards 4. Consider quicker alternative methods (i.e. symmetry) 5. Understanding of the concepts 6.
I take my lead from the student, to see what topics need extra support. I'll go through the theory until its understood and then reinforce it with sample and past paper questions. I find it best to review topics learnt every few weeks, to give the student confidence that they know and have thoroughly learnt topics.
I appreciate that all students learn differently and so I like to adapt my style for each learner. My main foundations however are making the topics interesting and engaging through relevant examples and also ensuring a firm understanding of the core subject matter so that it can be built upon later.
Although, I tutor KS2, KS3 and A-Level Maths, GCSE and iGCSE Maths is the qualification that I enjoy teaching the most and is my specialism. I tutor to all ages and abilities. My tutoring methodology is very much student-centred with the aim of creating an enjoyable and effective learning environment.
I base my classes on first trying a few questions to ascertain the ability of my student at the current task. I then find any holes in understanding and misconceptions. Finally, we will work together to eliminate these both with explanation and practice questions until the student has a deep understanding of the topic and can comfortably answer questions on the topic.
I am a QUB maths student currently sitting on a First. At the moment I am studying mostly Quantum Mechanics but I have in the past studied a combination of pure and applied maths and statistics. In school I achieved A*s in GCSE Maths and Additional Maths (now called Further Maths), and A*, B in Maths and Further Maths at A-level respectively.
I believe the key to my success at GCSE and A Level was determining my learning style. This is so important as the way students are taught in school doesn't always work for everybody. I aim to help my pupils discover this and tailor the lessons to suit.
My teaching methods are based on lecture notes and textbooks. I focus on covering the key concepts during the class. Normally I require students to practice problems at home. During the class I will go through them and try to help the students build the links between different areas of the subject.
My lessons are student led, focusing on students' weakest areas within a subject. The sessions involve going through the concepts and ideas from first principles - things a student should know at a basic level. Once they are comfortable with the concept I will walk them through exam questions that I have selected in order to test their newfound understanding.
My style of teaching is fairly relaxed and open. I approach each topic individually depending on the problem you, the student, are having. Whether it's a difficult concept or learning a technique to improve problem solving, I am happy to help.
My teaching methodology is mainly helping the students with their homework and giving them methodological tips to solve Mathematical problems. Moreover, for the languages it would mainly be conversation. Finally, to help students with their application for universities, I would help them to get out of the struggles the are having.
My teaching methodology is based on the use of clear examples through demonstration and discussion on specific problem-areas that are of interest to the students.
I teach mathematics at all levels, including degree level. My teaching is based on the student's individual needs and is tailor made to his/her requirements. The pace of teaching also depends on the individual and the results that they seek to achieve.
I try to make Maths more enjoyable by explaining any technique to solve problems and exercises and looking beyond to find other methods and alternatives.
I am teacher of maths in a secondary school in Manchester with a degree in Mathematics from the University of Nottingham. My enthusiasm for teaching, my awareness of different learning styles and versatility in my explanations has helped pupils achieve exemplary results in their GCSEs and A-Levels. I am a friendly, engaging and encouraging teacher with a proven track record of success.
I'm currently a student at the Exeter Mathematics School looking to help Secondary School students with their Mathematics. Given the new GCSE's graded 1 to 9, the difficulty of Mathematics at the secondary school level has risen greatly and a lot of students struggle with it's memory oriented exams.
I'll start teaching from basics if a student knows basics then I'll start from whatever he/she wishes to learn.
A highly motivated and dedicated student Of mechanical engineering with extensive tutoring experience in Physics, Chemistry and mathematics. I’ve been teaching these subjects privately to GCSE/O-LEVEL and Alevel students from 4 years now helping 100's of students achieve their academic goals. I on average manage to get my students achieve 2 grades higher than their predicted grades..
Practice! Practice! Practice! Nothing can beat practicing in learning so I will provide some questions on the text book or questions designed by myself to students to be the practice questions after the lesson. However, I also will provide some funny fact about Maths to student that I want to keep students feeling "Maths is not that boring".
I am a qualified Performing Arts teacher who has also been teaching Maths in private tuitions for more than 25 years.
I am a 2nd year Astrophysics student at Cardiff University, comfortable teaching maths and physics from Secondary to A level. I aim to achieve a fun and comfortable learning environment, structuring my lessons around the tutee's preferences. I like to get to know my tutee and understand what they wish to get out of our tutoring sessions. I then plan my sessions to ensure they achieve the goals.
With over 30 years experience of teaching children and young people from 4 - 18 years old, I am available to provide a range of services in a 15 miles radius from Hythe: Tutoring - pre-school readiness, basic literacy and numeracy ages 4 - adult, SATS, Kent test, general homework support, Maths to GCSE level 4, English to A' level, exam revision techniques.
I have only had experience teaching GCSE and A Level, but would consider helping out undergraduates. As a scientist, I wholeheartedly believe in the value of teaching from first principles. You don't have to remember how to do something if you understand the concept. I also did not achieve my full potential in A Level, but I went on to achieve well at university.
I use personalised tutoring to compliment learners school/college maths lessons by keeping regular communication with the topics covered in class to reinforce core mathematical concepts and revise for specific forthcoming tests/examinations. This has resulted in learners achieving their goals, whether that be moving up a set in school or acceptance into their 1st choice Russel Group University.
I have trained in school science pedagogy at the Institute of Education so I am aware of scaffolding techniques that involve questioning and producing resources with appropriate (audio)visual aids to guide students through learning that is both independent and suited to their abilities.
I am a petroleum engineer with experience in field and in research as well, currently doing a MSc. I have taught to University students mainly studying engineering or areas involved with maths. But I have also taught to students in secondary or high school from basic algebra, trigonometry to multi variable calculus. I have taught to small groups (3 or 4 people) or individually.
Hi! I am a young and enthusiastic tutor with a masters degree in Physics. As well as interests in physics and other sciences I have keen interests in music and the arts. My teaching Style is responsive, with time normally set aside each session for ad-hoc coverage of topics students are struggling with alongside more structured activities.

Perfect! She is a very sweet person and very patient which is very important for a teacher. I still see her and I'm happy to recommend her :)
Perfect! He knows physics very well and aims to give an engaging tutorial, however I don't think he spent enough time preparing for our lesson which was rather disappointing.
Perfect! Patient and understanding tutor who explains clearly and adapts lessons to fit subjects studied at school!
