I believe that *everyone* has the potential to learn and excel if they find the best method of learning for them. I aim to challenge my students to push themselves to meet the targets they have set for themselves, with respect to their own goals, life circumstances, and abilities.
I have an exceptional academic record with three first class degrees, including a double first in PPE from Oxford. I thoroughly prepare each lesson to meet your child's needs, and work with their learning style to make complex concepts clear.
I believe in every student gaining clarity in fundamental concepts before proceeding to more specific cases. I tailor my classes to student needs and enjoy interactive and enthusiastic students. After going over the syllabus, I will come up with a weekly structure that will involve both discussions as well as written exercises to substantially train students in their chosen study area.
I would prefer to teach A-level and secondary students, mostly because I aim to teach one of these age groups in the future. However I would be open to tutoring degree students whose modules match my areas of expertise.
My teaching methodology is all about delivering you well-planned, individualised lessons that suit your needs. There will be the use of PowerPoints and activities e-mailed to you before the lesson so that you are set up for when we start. Heatwave over? Or just a lull? Edinburgh, cricket and beaches provide languid intervals between City and Guilds Maths, IELTS, German history and the odd 11 plus - don't I know how to occupy my time! September, rules and uniforms can wait a bit longer.

I will always respect and support the student and will provide an encouraging and relaxed learning environment either at your home or if you wish you can come to my quiet cafe at the Foxmoor Business Park, Wellington Somerset for your tuition with refreshments available.
I will base my classes on learning content and technique. I will develop not only the knowledge base of my students, but also their skill base too, improving their critical thinking and writing skills. I am looking to teach ambitious GCSE and Alevel students, regardless of current ability and 'target grade'.
My teaching methodology is very much dependent on each and every students needs. I am very versatile and can adapt to all scenarios. I understand that we are all different in our learning and in our first session we will figure out what our best approach will be.
- Understanding is central - students will always master one area, grasping the underlying problem, before moving on - Tailored to individual needs - all students are different, and the joy of personal tuition is being able to make each lesson unique - Planned and structured - students should always know what they're learning in each lesson, and how that fits into the overall picture they're...
My teaching method is flexible depending on the needs of the student. As each student is different and learns best in varying ways, so I would alter my class and lesson plan to tailor those needs. I like to keep my lessons informal and create a relaxed and comfortable environment.
I want my classes to be open and friendly, and based on discussion around a particular topic. I am a friendly and personable person, and create an environment where the student can feel relaxed and able to ask anything they want about particular subject.
I will begin by teaching students how to use what are called 'Concept Maps' which are a learning tool outlined by Joseph D. Novak and D. Bob Gowin in their book 'Learning how to Learn' published by the University of Cambridge. Concept Maps allow one to keep visual track of ideas and their connections.
I'm a firm believer in establishing a really strong relationship with a tutee. Honesty and a bit of humour is key to this. I know how much difference sitting in a classroom with a teacher whose company you actually enjoy makes. Key to my teaching technique is reviewing past-papers in anticipation of upcoming questions.
I think lessons should be exciting and engaging and work hard to plan learning activities that will not only help students to make academic progress but also foster enthusiasm for learning. I pay close attention to the different learning styles of students and am well practiced in dynamically assessing and responding to their needs and interests.
For A Level Politics I will be breaking down specification requirements through learning content through a variety of methods and applying real life case studies to them through the news and current affairs. I have previously tutored English to younger students. I currently mentor peers at college in Law and Politics.
Having just obtained a degree in Philosophy, Politics and Ethics and wanting to be a lecturer, I know that a good tutor can make all the difference during a period of study. As a student, I have written long essays, had to memorise tricky texts and be able to produce a well structured argument about them, in both the written and the spoken word.
My tutoring style is much the same as that used as Oxbridge. One-to-one tuition is the best way to ensure a student has full knowledge of the topic being studied and allows them to ask for clarification and improve what they know more easily.
My pursuit of historical education at degree level has shown my commitment to the topic and my result of a 2:1 reflects the hard work I have put in. My approach to lessons is similar to seminars where learning is encouraged through discussion and critical analysis that aids in overall knowledge retention.
With 1-1 tutoring, my teaching is dictated by the student. I work with my students to pin-point their areas of weakness and their specific goals. I go beyond dry exam requirements and seek to share my passion for history with my students.
My method is to encourage debate with the student, and by getting them to defend their ideas, they tend to reveal that they know more than they realise, and if they don't, it becomes clear where knowledge is lacking and that is then something that can be focused on.
I am willing and able to tutor most levels, ranging from the beginning of secondary school to degree-level. I am always eager to include a high level of discussion in my supervisions, although of course realise the importance of examination frameworks and the immense pressure to achieve high marks in written work.
In tutoring students, my approach is highly interactive in order to engage the student into a learning environment where they will feel comfortable and relaxed. In doing so, this nourishes a greater desire to learn with the stress removed.
