I want my classes to be open and friendly, and based on discussion around a particular topic. I am a friendly and personable person, and create an environment where the student can feel relaxed and able to ask anything they want about particular subject.
My teaching method will be nourishing, and democratic. Allowing the student to learn through exploring and discovery. I have three teaching styles which can be selected as and when the student needs and we both best see fit. I'm currently a Philosophy student studying Philosophy at degree level.
My approach to tutoring is to base classes on individual needs which are always discussed with and approved by the student. I find this way of working leads to a clearer understanding and often an immediate improvement in student grades.
When tutoring I sit down with the student and look at their work to first establish what they need to improve with. From there I will reteach the problem area one-on-one and make sure the student is comfortable with the work they are doing and show a full understanding. The contents of the lesson will be recorded after each session.
My teaching method is very much student focussed, identifying and then tackling the topics and skills they find most challenging. I believe the key to sucess is having the confidence in one's own ability, hence my aim as a tutor is not only to improve the knowledge and skills of my tutees but also to improve their confidence, maximising their potential.
