About Rouzbeh

I am a native Persian speaker from Iran, living in London. I hold an MA in Persian Literature from the University of Tehran and a BA in Persian Literature. For about thirty years I have worked with the Persian language as a writer, editor and journalist, and from 2017 to 2025 I wrote for BBC Persian.

For ten years I was a volume editor and senior editor at the Encyclopedia for Children and Young Adults in Tehran. I have written books in Persian for children and teenagers, including museum guides for young readers, and I edited several volumes of a history of children's literature in Iran. I have given private lessons in Persian literature and grammar, and I ran writing workshops.

I am patient, I speak slowly and clearly, and I enjoy helping people feel at home in Persian.

About the lesson

Every lesson starts from your goal. In the free first lesson we talk about what you want, I check your level, and we make a simple plan together.

- Beginners: the alphabet, reading and writing step by step, and everyday conversation from the first week.
- Children of Iranian families who speak some Persian but cannot read or write it: short stories, games and pictures, so reading becomes a pleasure, not a duty. I have taught children through stories for many years.
- Intermediate and advanced learners: natural conversation, grammar, and reading real texts such as news, short stories and articles.
- GCSE Persian: preparation for all four papers (listening, speaking, reading and writing), with extra work on writing, spelling and translation into Persian.
- Poetry and literature: Hafez, Rumi, Saadi, Khayyam and modern poets such as Forough Farrokhzad, read slowly, with meaning, background and pronunciation.

Lessons are online or face to face in Ealing (West London). I can explain in English when needed, but we use as much Persian as you are ready for. After each lesson you get a short note with new words and something to practise.
