About Viktor

I am a current Chemistry PhD student at Imperial College London, with 7+ years of experience in the coffee industry, a championship title, and am very passionate about coffee. I have explored various roles within the coffee industry, such as barista, coffee shop manager, Head of Coffee, and Head of Coffee School. Within these roles, I gained insight into all things coffee. This includes dialling in, espresso theory, milk frothing, how coffee is grown and processed, coffee roasting, and so on. During my time in the coffee industry, I also took part in coffee competitions, claiming the title of Icelandic Barista Champion in 2019, going on to compete in the 2019 World Barista Championships held in Boston. This knowledge and experience, combined with my understanding of chemistry, have allowed me to teach both customers and fellow baristas the fundamentals of coffee brewing, which I did in my role as Head of Coffee and Head of Coffee School at Jericho Coffee Traders in Oxford.

About the lesson

I am a big believer in understanding the fundamentals of coffee brewing. I will deliver a detailed breakdown of each aspect of the coffee brewing process, all the way from bean selection to proper tasting techniques. An understanding of each component of the coffee brewing process will allow you to confidently adjust the brewing parameters to achieve your desired brew. Lessons can either cover espresso making, where we go over each step of the process on your personal espresso machine, to be able to get the maximum potential out of your equipment and coffee beans. Or filter brewing, where we can cover either a specific brewing technique, such as Aeropress, Cafetière, or V60, or do a general breakdown of filter brewing. All equipment and coffee beans should generally be supplied by yourself, but we can work out the details one-on-one.
